Migraine prevention? Maybe?

On the ME front I've been doing a bit better lately, but the flip side of this is that I've been getting a few more migraines.

So today I got one of these Daith ear piercings done. I read on the internet that some people find they help with migraine (so it MUST be true huh?).

Anyway two of my daughters got the same piercing with me for solidarity, and i
t amused my family no end that I had ventured into a Tattoo Parlour to get this done!

So I've no idea how or why this might work biologically, but if it does reduce the number, severity or duration of my migraines then I won't argue.

If it does nothing - well if I grow to like it, then I can leave it there.

I'll report back in a few weeks.

PS For those of you who are interested in heart rate monitoring:  I was expecting a significant spike in HR during the time this piercing was getting done, but that didn't happen.  In fact my heart rate went higher eating my breakfast this morning than it did getting my ear pierced!  Weird!

  2. Hi from a new follower :)
Interesting! I luckily don't suffer from bad migraines but have a good friend that does. Will be great if this works! x

    1. Indeed if something this simple could work, then it would be fantastic. I'm a little skeptical that it really will work, but who knows - and it certainly gave my family huge entertainment value that I would even consider trying it. :)

  3. Thanks! Looking forward to hearing if it helps.

The ear has many acupressure points--my acupuncturist stuck radish seeds on my ear--bet the piercing works in a similar way.

    1. LOL I once used sticky plaster and dried peas to mimic one of those Sea Bands that pup pressure on your wrist for nausea. Worked well. :P

  4. Best Beloved gets bad migraines, but they've decreased in frequency and intensity since I convinced him to try taking Feverfew every day. Couldbe worth trying if the piercing doesn't assist.

    1. Yes.... Tried Feverfew - not that fond of it. Also with erratic migraines I wasn't very good at the consistency thing. It grows at my back door here, so I have used it sometimes in the summer.

    1. I'm not 100% sure, but it seems to help reduce frequency and severity. I have actually had a bit of bother with the original piercing. It wasn't deep enough, so it worked its way out (and I took it out when it was obvious the skin was too thin over the metal). I got it re-done by another piercer.

Glad you enjoy the blog. I enjoy having the outlet. :)
